SIGNING UP IS REQUIRED BEFORE SHOWING UP

Shri’s Signature Classes:

OPEN | STRONG + STEADY | This class is open to the public and held on mats. In this class, students can routinely expect sun salutations, followed by other standing, balancing and seated postures linked with rhythmic breathing, designed to strengthen the body, increase flexibility and release tension in the mind and body. Modifications are always woven into this class to support everyone, and music (with a faster beat) is often used too. If you love Vinyasa Yoga, this class is for you because you can expect to sweat more in this class than in a Shri "Soft + Slow" class. **Please Note: On certain days of the week, this class may be paired with a specific "outreach in studio" group. You can use the pink tags at the top of the schedule to filter which groups.** Any Questions? Email Shri's Student Advocate: mary@shriyoga.org.

OPEN | SOFT + SLOW |  This class is open to the general public and held on mats with detailed instruction, making it ideal for beginners, while also offering advanced students options to challenge themselves physically. In this class, students can expect a slower flow of postures than in a Shri "Strong + Steady" class with more restorative poses built in, and a longer seated or reclined meditation. Softer & slower music is used too, and if a student does need a chair, we can accommodate that request as well. **Please Note: On certain days of the week, this class may be paired with a specific "outreach in studio" group. You can use the pink tags at the top of the schedule to filter which groups.** Any Questions? Email Shri's Student Advocate: mary@shriyoga.org.

Lying down on a mat, or sitting in a chair, this special sound experience includes restorative sound bowls, guided body scans, breathing exercises, tuning forks and gongs.

Because we believe your environment should support your practice at Shri, the event is curated by candlelight (or low light) to create a safe, soft space for the deepest possible relaxation.

SPA SUNDAY with Cate Brennan on Sunday Mornings 10:00 - 11:00 am | This class is open to the general public and held on mats with detailed instruction, making it ideal for beginners, while also offering some advanced students options to challenge themselves more physically, but at a slower pace than in a Shri "Strong + Steady" or "Soft + Slow" class.

In addition to movement and breath work, this class also features a longer seated or reclined meditation set to: calming music, permission-only adjustments (shoulder presses, soft massage), and depending on the time of year, essential oils, lavender towels and other "spa-like" treatments are also included.

If a student does need a chair, we can accommodate that request as well.

What Our Students Are Saying …

SUPPORTING OUR MISSION OF

Inclusive Yoga Outreach

Private Classes

In partnership with our nonprofit partners, Shri offers the following outreach classes PRIVATELY, run off the SHRI CURRICULUM, with Shri-Certified Teachers who have attended and graduated from our 80-hour outreach teacher training.

With the exception of one adaptive class, these outreach classes are NOT published or available to attend through our booking software. Classes are held in our studio & all over Rhode Island.

ADAPTIVE YOGA  - These classes serve teens and adults with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities in partnership with social services from across the Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.  In these classes, students build strength, balance and a sense of community on and off the mat.  Often practicing in chairs, students in Shri's Adaptive Yoga Project learn how to get up and down to the floor with team-building activities and meditation games built in, while yoga poses are modified to meet the needs of every student. ** If you are not with one of our partner agencies, an introductory email to Shri is required before drop-in attendance is possible: contact robin@shriyoga.org for more information.**

ADAPTIVE DANCE  -
These classes are held in partnership with several nonprofit organizations, this is an energizing, community-centric guided dance class set to age-appropriate music and movement.

HOSPITAL PROJECT - Shri serves Slater Hospital patients once a week inside our studio with a chair-based, gentle class focusing on slow movements to reduce stress and to regulate emotions. Outside of our studio, Shri Teachers run classes every week inside Bradley Pediatric Hospital, Butler, Rhode Island Hospital, the RI State Psychiatric Hospital and Eleanor Slater Hospital too.

SCHOOL PROJECT -
These classes are held in partnership with schools after the school day inside our studio and during the school day outside our studio for K-12 students. These classes are often high energy and follow the community building and group mindfulness practices within our Curriculum. Starting the fall of 2024, we will be offering more healing arts programs for after school events.

YOGA FOR SENIORS - These classes are held outside our studio are either in chairs or mats with the same postures and guided mediations, all to help improve focus, build strength, increase flexibility and engage in a community setting. These classes are free to specific senior centers based upon the day of the week.

Public Classes marked OPEN in pink on our schedule help fund free classes to those in need through our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Shri Service Corps

A portion of funds generated by our public, open classes fund Shri outreach programs through our 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm, Shri Service Corps.

This model creates a more diverse yoga community, in which individuals from all backgrounds can practice together.

Some of our public, open classes are also paired with outreach students when appropriate and safe to do so.

This approach and “service in action,” is what we mean by “inclusive yoga outreach.”
